Sant Ramon Nonat Parish Church

Sant Ramon Nonat in Barcelona - Parish of Sant Ramon Nonat

Next to Collblanc street is the charming Parish of Sant Ramon Nonat. Built in 1924, the exterior of this church features a solid façade in the neo-Romanesque architectural style. The complex is made up of the church, the parish offices and the school of the same name, which is located on the façade of Collblanc Street.

The façade of the parish is dominated by a rotund stone bell tower, with a quadrangular floor plan and five floors where you can see openings with germinated windows. The portals are semicircular and have tympanum decorated with narrative mosaics that explain the life of the saint.

The reason for its initial construction is due to the strong immigration and growth that the area experienced starting in the 1920s. However, in July 1936, the parish was burned down along with the parish house. Between 1940 and 1955, the year in which the main altar was installed, the church underwent reconstruction by the architect Josep M. Sagnier, who gave it its current aesthetic.

Around the church, there are a few passages that have created an authentic and unique neighborhood of single-family houses on the ground floor, perpendicular to the avenue that bears the same name as the parish.
