It is located at the southern end of the region, on the border with Baix Llobregat, Anoia and Vallès Occidental. It is located right under Montserrat and forming part of the mountain. The Llobregat River crosses the municipality and divides it in 2, so that the original town is on the right bank and the new recent urban developments (Monistrol-Residencial, El Pla, La Batanera...) on the left bank. Coming from the south, Monistrol is the first town in the Bages region, 15 km away. of the county capital, Manresa.
